Merced Residents Bundled up for Annual Christmas Parade

The city of Merced bundled up for a day full of holiday traditions ... including its annual Christmas parade. Santa Claus rode on an antique fire truck, instead of a sleigh, and crowds lined up along Downtown Merced for the chance to see him.The parade also included several marching bands playing holiday music. Though many wore layers to shield themselves from the cold ... many were thinking of the tropics. That's because the theme for this year's parade was surf ... sand, and Santa ... hence, the snowman wearing a hula skirt in the video above.

The city took over the parade from the chamber of commerce this year and raised a controversy by calling it the "Holiday Parade" instead of the "Christmas Parade." They eventually changed it back.
