Jeff Denham Pursues Berryhill's Vacant Assembly Seat

Fresno, California Denham was in his district office in Merced Friday afternoon and spoke to Action News about his choice to instead pursue the state assembly seat left vacant by Modesto Assemblyman Tom Berryhill.

Denham says several other republican lawmakers urged him to run for the assembly seat to prevent a possible two thirds majority by democrats. And he believes his eight years of experience have prepared him to be a leader in the assembly.

Sen. Jeff Denham said, "We have about a dozen ... and here in the Central Valley we just can't afford it."

Denham will have to move to Stanislaus County to run in the district. He says he's not ruling out a run for a statewide office in the future.
