The mayor says Google Fiber will benefit everyone who needs the service for their business and for their homes.
"We think Fresno is the best location. Fresno is a great test market, with an isolated media market; we've got terrific anchor institutions and great cooperation with the schools," said Swearengin.
The cities of Clovis, Modesto and Merced are also trying to land Google Fiber.
