Investigators say the officer was in the process of handcuffing /*Abel Ambrocio*/, 35, for court -- when he punched her in the face. Another officer tasered the inmate and they were able to shackle him.
Ambrocio was arrested a month ago on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence. He couldn't be released because of a "no bail" immigration hold. He now faces new felony charges of battery on a correctional officer.
The female officer was taken to the hospital where she suffered injuries to her wrist, shoulder, and face.
