It happened on Golden State, near Adams at the Motel Fowler in Fresno County.
Investigators say the baby's mother called 911 Tuesday morning after finding her little girl unresponsive.
Neighbors say the motel has been converted into apartments, and that the woman lives there with her six children, all under the age of eight.
Investigators are waiting on the baby's autopsy and questioning her mother about what may have happened inside the home.
Child Protective Services has since removed the other five children from the home.
