Atwater police officer injured in car crash released from hospital

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An Atwater police officer injured in a car crash last week is now out of the hospital. Officials say Officer Dave Sarginson will likely return to duty within the next month.

The crash happened Wednesday at Bellevue Road and Granite Drive in Atwater. Three officers -- including Sarginson -- were heading to a call with their lights and sirens operating.

Sarginson collided with a Cadillac that was turning left at an intersection. That driver was hospitalized with a shoulder injury. His 5-year-old passenger was not hurt.
