SoCal woman claims she was bitten by bedbugs during Chukchansi Gold trip

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A southern California woman claims she's covered in bed bug bites after a stay at Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino, but the hotel is fighting back and says there's no sign of any bugs in any of its rooms.

Corina Hill says she stayed there Monday night and since leaving the hotel, she claims, she has nearly 40 bites all over her body.

Hill says she hasn't stopped itching.

"I kept waking up through the night I just felt almost like a little pin prick on my skin," she said. "And it wasn't until the next morning and we opened up the blinds that we noticed the bites."

While visiting family this week, the Orange County woman says she stayed at Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino.

"We were going to actually stay two nights," she said. "And then after that I was like, 'Uh-uh.'"

She claims that the bites all over her body came from bed bugs.

According to Hill, pictures show the room was comped by the casino.

"First of all, the patrons should come first," she said. "They should be safe. I mean I brought my 4-year-old into that hotel and if she was not covered up she would've been bit up too."

But a statement from the general manager says the allegations are false.

In an excerpt, he said, "We take these matters very seriously as our guests' comfort and health are our top priority."

"Following receipt of this claim, we launched an immediate investigation using an external and professional exterminator service following our standard protocol. A thorough investigation by the professionals confirmed that there were no bed bugs or bed bug activity at the property."

An exterminator says bed bug allegations are more serious than ever before because the insects are getting harder to kill.

"It's getting tougher to treat them because they're becoming resistant to pyrethroids, which was a good chemical to use on them," Bob Hill with B&D Pest Control Inc. said.

Corina says that since the room was comped, she wasn't looking for any compensation but she says she wants help with medical expenses and won't go back again.

"To be honest with you, I wouldn't stay the night there," she said. "I wouldn't even want to gamble there."
