MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Madera company is tricking out trailers and they're doing it in style.
Performance Trailers Inc. makes specialty trailers. One was even used on the set of the TV show "Desperate Housewives."
The business has nine employees. It was started in 1991 by Kevin Gerhardt.
The company has built projects for people in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Mexico and Argentina. They recently completed a specialty transport trailer for Lockheed Martin that transports multimillion-dollar satellites from California to Florida.
Performance Trailers built the hair and makeup trailer that was used in the "Desperate Housewives" TV series, and that trailer is currently being used in Adam Sandler movies. The trailer had the ability to work on 10-12 persons simultaneously.
Employees also built a trailer for Corvette (General Motors) that was flown over to Le Mans, France, for their marketing and racing efforts.
Performance Trailers builds about 5-7 specialty trailers a year and does a considerable amount of repairs and modifications to existing trailers.
Currently, employees are working on a mobile wine bottling trailer. It's the fifth one they have built to date.
