CRMC plans grand expansion

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Community Regional Medical Center was set for a major expansion. It will increase the amount of pediatric services for valley families.

In 2018, CRMC expects to open a brand new medical office building which will provide several pediatric out-patient services. The downtown Fresno hospital believes it can better serve the public by expanding pediatric services.

A new facility will be built on a dirt lot south of CRMC. The medical office building will house pediatric out-patient services.

CRMC CEO Craig Wagoner said, "We'll have all the services related to pediatrics from an out-patient perspective from orthopedics to neurology, to GI, urology."

Wagoner called the expansion part of CRMC's commitment to serve entire families.

"We're trying to respond to the growth of the community as well as our mission to provide care for people in our community."

Kids from Birney elementary helped Community Regional Medical Center kick off "Hospital Week."

CRMC has sponsored programs which help students to stay active. The kids responded with a fund-raiser for Terry's House.

Teacher Robert Garcia said, "The kids said let's give back to the community so we had a jog-a-thon last month, April 8th actually, and the kids raised $2,671."

6th grader April Dove added, "It's actually really fun because I am a very active girl and to have these sports and Walkaround club is very good for me because I just love to stay active."

CRMC also hoped to someday add a new 10-12 story bed tower.

The bed tower to serve both adults and children was in the design stage and has not yet received final approval.
