Taco Throwdown draws huge crowd, causes social buzz
The 'Fresno Tacos' will take the field again at least three more times this season.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The 'Fresno Tacos' will take the field again at least three more times this season.

The 5th annual Taco Throwdown drew huge crowd into Downtown Fresno.

During the Fresno Grizzlies game on Thursday, 25 taco trucks were at Chukchansi Park competing for the top honors.

"El Premio Mayor" won both the judges and fan votes for "best taco."

A record crowd of more than 16,000 people showed up to also cheer on the Fresno Grizzlies -- who became the Fresno Tacos -- with special uniforms for the night.

The event got so much buzz, the Grizzlies decided that they will wear the tacos uniforms every Thursday for the rest of the season.

"We announced tonight that we're going to take the field as the Fresno Tacos again every Thursday night the rest of the season," said Derek Franks, Fresno Grizzlies General Manager. "We hope this can catapult the rest of the season for us and as we move forward to playing some postseason baseball for the first time in Chukchansi Park's history."

There are at least three more Thursday night games left at Chukchansi Park this season. There could be four Thursday night games if the Tacos (Grizzlies) make it to the playoffs in September.
