'Dogs drop season opener at Nebraska

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Prior to Saturday night's season opener, Fresno State head coach Tim DeRuyter tweeted, "Had an earthquake here this am to wake us. Apparently, the ground knows the 'Dogs are here!"

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit in North-Central Oklahoma and was felt in parts of Nebraska and North Texas. If the dogs could pull off an upset of Nebraska, that would make waves for a program looking to bounce back from last year's 3-9 season.

The Bulldogs trailed 14-10 at the half, but the home Cornhuskers pulled away late, outscoring Fresno State 29-0 in the 2nd half for a 43-10 win over Fresno State.

Senior wide receiver Aaron Peck had 9 receptions, 112 yards and a touchdown. The 'Dogs defense allowed 406 yards of total offense.

The bulldogs drop the season opener and now look ahead to next Saturday's home opener against Sacramento State at Bulldog Stadium on September 10th.
