FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The woman killed in a head-on collision on Highway 41 Saturday afternoon has been identified by family members as Victoria Gomez of Fresno. The Clovis West grad had just finished dropping off a friend at Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino for work when the accident happened.
"It's hard cause she was full of love and joy and her being a family member...my sister its tough," said the victim's brother Amaury Fernandez
The 30-year-old died when according to the California Highway Patrol a 49-year old male driver was speeding when he tried to pass another car in his Volkswagen Golf and drove into oncoming traffic about a mile north of Yosemite Springs Parkway -- that's when he collided with Victoria's Chevy Equinox.
Victoria was wearing her seat belt but died on impact.
The driver of the Volkswagen remains in the hospital after suffering significant injuries.
"My thoughts and prayers also go out to the other person that was involved. I understand they're probably in the hospital. It's not just us going through it. we understand someone else is going through something similar."
The family remembers Victoria as a person who was always positive and put others ahead of herself.
