CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Clovis High School graduated nearly 700 students last night, and around 5,000 friends and family members filled Lamonica Stadium to cheer on their grads.

After a long, controversial battle with Clovis Unified School District, one student walked the stage with an eagle feather in his hair. Christian Titman says it's a symbol of his Native American pride, but the district had previously said it was a dress code violation and possible distraction.

The two parties came to an agreement on Tuesday, allowing Titman to wear the eagle feather and place it on his cap for the tassle turn. Titman did not want to speak with the media on Thursday night, but plenty of other students were excited to share their memories at Clovis High School.

"The teachers are amazing, the kids are amazing-it's just been such a blessing to be here," said Savannah Wright, who will be attending Clovis Community College before transferring to Fresno State.

"Just the whole experience, the atmosphere, just the love and the commitment that comes from this school is great," said Max Paulus, who will be attending UCLA next year.

Clovis High School Principal Denver Stairs took a moment to remember Gary Prentice, a Clovis High counselor who died this year-his son also graduated Thursday night. He said it gave everyone at Clovis High perspective on what's really important in life.
