Trial may decide if Fresno shooting spree suspect Kori Muhammad is mentally competent

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The man accused of carrying out a racist killing spree and murdering four people in Fresno may go to trial to determine if he's mentally competent.

The suspect stood silently in court this morning until the very end of his hearing, but he shouted about racial inequality just before deputies took him away.

He has delivered a similar outburst at the end of every hearing since his first court appearance in April.

The 39-year-old is charged with the murders of Carl Williams, Zack Randalls, Mark Gassett, and David Jackson.

Two doctors have found him incompetent to stand trial, but a third says he is competent.

He'll be back in court next month and attorneys could schedule a trial to determine whether he goes to a mental institution or stays on track for trial.
