FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is in critical condition after police say he rear-ended a pickup truck with his motorcycle in West Central Fresno.

Police say both vehicles were traveling westbound on Ashlan when the accident happened at the intersection of Hayes Avenue just before 5pm Thursday night.

The Fresno Police Collision Reconstruction Team investigated physical evidence left in the roadway to determine the cause of the accident.

Dave Gibeault with the Fresno Police Department said, "There was a report earlier about 20 to 25 minutes prior of a white male on an orange motorcycle possibly intoxicated in the area of Millbrook and Ashlan. Don't know if that's related and will also be looking into that to see if this is possibly the same individual or if it's something totally unrelated."

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
