Girl, 3, returned to mother after being found alone in Madera

Madera police say a 3-year-old girl was found alone out in the cold on Saturday morning. The little girl was sitting in her pajamas near a yellow blanket. It happened at the Crossings apartment complex on Adell Street near Sonora Street.

Concerned residents called authorities. According to initial reports, the toddler was left with a friend while her mother was away and managed to open the locked apartment door.

Police and Child Protective Services are now investigating, but the little girl was returned to her mother.
