MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Firefighters extinguish small grass fire in Madera County

Fire fighters are mopping up a grass fire that threatened two homes in Madera County.

The fire started around 4:30 a.m. Thursday near Highway 41 and Road 204. Officials say homeowners smelled smoke and called 911.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire burned about two or three acres.
