FRESNO, California (KFSN) -- One man is recovering in the hospital with head injuries after an apparent assault in West Central Fresno.
Police were called to the Arco gas station near Olive Avenue and Parkway Drive around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday for what they initially thought was a shooting, but officials say it now looks like the man was beaten. They arrived to find him on the ground in the parking lot.
The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Officials say the incident actually happened across the street from the gas station at Crystal and Olive.
"We do have people cooperating and providing information that witnessed portions of this event, including the victim. The victim has been cooperative and provided us with very valuable information," said Lt. Steve Card, Fresno Police Department.
Police are still searching for a suspect this morning. Olive was shut down as police investigated the scene, but has since reopened.
