FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A behind the scenes look at some of the intricate work happening to make the exhibit as realistic as possible.

Throughout African Adventures, you will see rock formations where animals will rest or provide a nice setting for each exhibit. Each one of those rocks are the works of many hours by artists. The first phase of African Adventures will include a 13-acre Africa savannah that will feature lions, cheetahs and rhinos. Some features include a lodge, complete with a fireplace and an even better view of the savannah.

Construction on the animal areas will begin getting wrapped up summer and animals will start moving in. More than 100 animals will be a part of this project. The nearly $56- million expansion project is paid for by Measure Z.

The African Adventures exhibit is expected to open to visitors in October of 2015.
