Police investigate possible explosive found at Central Fresno home

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are investigating a possible explosive device found at a home in Central Fresno.

At around 8:30 Thursday night residents told police they found what appeared to be a grenade that had been buried in their backyard. The department sent their bomb disposal team to the home near Shields and Hughes where they removed the device and took it to a safe location.

Investigators are now checking to see whether or not the device was an actual live explosive.
