CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- After swarming big-box stores on Friday, many people visited independent shops the next day in support of Small Business Saturday.

Meghan Pott runs Sweet Baketique out of her Clovis home. She specializes in baking custom-decorated sugar cookies.

She offered a 20 to 50 percent discount in honor of Small Business Saturday and saw a boost in sales -- not only from new customers, but returning clients as well.

"This is a nice way for me to give back to them for saying thank you for ordering from me since I am a small business and it supports my family," said Pott. "It's not a corporation, so this is really a great way to say thank you to my clients."

Several other local businesses, including Sam's Deli and Ooh La La, also offered incentives on Saturday to get people to spend locally this season.
