Many Central Valley families are struggling with hunger and to make ends meet. ABC30, Vons and the Community Food Bank are teaming up to help Feed the Valley.


You can help, too. The Feed the Valley Food Drive started on Monday, July 7 and runs through August 3. Just stop by your neighborhood Vons store and purchase a $5.00 pre-filled bag of groceries. Or you can also donate non-perishable items of your choice at any of the locations below.

Vons Check Presentation - Wednesday, July 9




On Wednesday, July 9, Larry Vanderdoes, Vons VP of Retail Operations, and the local Vons stores managers presented Andy Souza, the President and CEO of the Community Food Bank, with a check for $10,000 to "officially" kick-off Vons commitment to the Feed The Valley Food Drive.





"Stuff the Truck" Event - Wednesday, July 23




In addition to the month-long Feed the Valley Food Drive, we also held a special, one-day "Stuff the Truck" event on Wednesday, July 23 at the Vons store located at 8949 N. Cedar Avenue. The Community Food Bank parked one of their large trucks on-site and it was our goal to fill it with donations over the course of the day. We didn't quite stuff the entire truck, but we did fill it with over 600 of the pre-packaged bags and lots of other donated food. We kicked things off bright and early at 4:30am that morning and stayed on-site until 7pm that evening. Every person who made a donation during our "Stuff the Truck" event was eligible to sign up for a chance to win an ABC30 prize pack. ABC30 is currently contacting winners to collect their prizes.
