Good Sports: Aidan Tran
Tran is still raising eyebrows on the golf course as an accomplished junior golfer.

When we last visited with Fresno's Aidan Tran, the four year old golf prodigy wowed everyone around him with his skills on the links. Fast forward to 2014, and a now 10 year old Tran is still raising eyebrows on the golf course as an accomplished junior golfer.

"It's fun challenging myself because I have to focus a lot to do well," Aidan said. "I like it because I played really well and beat some really good players."

Aidan has played in around 100 junior golf tournaments over the years, and has won a lot of them. A natural athlete with a sweet swing, Aidan takes pride in the mental side of the game.

"It helps you to stay in the moment so you don't get frustrated and just have to stay with the game," Aidan said.

"He's maturing on the golf course," Aidan's father Phil Tran said. "Me being a golf fan, I just love to watch how much my son is into golf."

He practices a few hours a day around half the year, but is also active in AAU basketball, a black belt in tae kwan do, and earns straight A's in the classroom. Golf burnout for him and his three siblings is not a concern.

"I love it and it's really fun," Aidan said of the game. "I don't get tired going on the course and playing."

"We go out as a family and we spent time together," father Phil added. "We all go to the Fort in the afternoon and evening and we all go play a few holes and it's just a family time for bonding."

And in less than two weeks, Aidan will tee off against some of the world's best players in his age group at the Callaway World Championships in San Diego.

"I just need to stay calm and play my game," Aidan said of the championship. "I want to go and win it, my goal is to win it, but I'd be happy to get in top ten."

"There's a lot of good junior players out there, lots of them," Aidan's golf coach Doug Scrivner said. "And he's one of the elite with them. His hand eye coordination is over and above most of them. If he outworks them, then he's going to have those other things all fit together. It gives him a shot. It really does."

Pretty safe to say the force is with Aidan Tran.
