Illegal U-turn leads to crash with big rig in Fresno County, CHP says
According to authorities, the big rig driver did everything he could to avoid hitting the truck but it was too late and he collided with the truck.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two people were rushed to the hospital after the car they were in was hit by a big rig Saturday afternoon.

The accident took place in Fresno County near Manning and Bryan Avenues. The CHP says it happened when the driver of a pickup truck carrying two passengers made an illegal U-turn.

According to authorities, the big rig driver did everything he could to avoid hitting the truck.

"He saw them turn northbound on Bryan, but by the time he reached intersection it was too late they were already in front of him," Victor Heredia with the CHP said.

The driver and passenger in the pickup truck were flown to Community Regional Medical Center.

There's no word on their current condition. However, drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
