FRESNO, California (KFSN) -- Jaime Rae Lee, 39 of Farmersville, was found guilty on Thursday after she received more than $18 thousand in aid based on falsified documents.

Between 2011 and 2014, Lee was found to have submitted documents to Cal Works and Cal Fresh even though her minor child did not live in her home. The court found the documents were submitted under perjury.

"Our office is dedicated to protecting the integrity of the welfare system which provides vital aid and services to so many struggling Tulare County families," said District Attorney Tim Ward. "This verdict serves as a reminder to those who would try to subvert the system that there are consequences to their actions."

Lee faces up to 15 years in prison. She is scheduled to be sentenced on August 10th.
