Wildfire scorches 25 acres near Mathews Mill

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Firefighters are working to put out a wildfire near Mathews Mill, which is east of Auberry and west of Shaver Lake.

The fire has burned about 25 acres since it was reported around noon Monday. Officials say it is 30 percent contained.

Mandatory evacuations had been issued for four homes along Old Railroad Grade Road near Jose Basin Road. Other homes in the area were put on standby. However, all evacuation orders have since been lifted.

The U.S. Forest Service says a quick response helped protect homes from the flames. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
