Alena joined the ABC30 weather team in October of 2016 after spending over two years forecasting weather at WPDE in Myrtle Beach, SC. There she covered multiple hurricane seasons and all types of severe weather events.
Alena was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. She graduated from Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication in May of 2014.
While attending ASU, Alena interned at KSAZ-TV and was a weather anchor and general assignment reporter for the award-winning, nightly newscast Cronkite NewsWatch. She also spent her four years in Phoenix working for CBS Radio where she held multiple positions in marketing, promotions, on-air and administrative.
When not studying meteorology or forecasting the weather Alena loves to spend as much time with friends and family, going to the movies and trying new restaurants. She is thrilled to be in Fresno to discover everything the Central Valley has to offer. If you have any great weather photos please send them her way!

With rain and snow levels coming in above normal, it's a hopeful sign the drought, gripping the state for five years, is at last easing.
The wet weather moved on Thursday and could stick around for much of your Friday. The roads will be wet for Friday's commute, so be sure to drive carefully.
