Missing Clovis father and children rescued near Bass Lake

KFSN The search for John Hopper and his 15-year-old twins Sara and Matthew Hopper had been called off around 5pm due to darkness and severe weather conditions.

But a man on a snowmobile radioed police that he had spotted a vehicle from a distance that matched the Ford Explorer driven by John Hopper. That snowmobiler then rode to that area and discovered the family along with three others who have yet to be identified.

All six have been rescued and are being brought to a clinic in Oakhurst. Madera County Sheriff John Anderson says the Hoppers are not injured, but one of the other three rescued did suffer an ankle injury.

The Hoppers took off Thursday morning to go play in the snow. They were reported missing by the children's mother, when they didn't come home last night.
