Valley Lawmaker pushes for "Adam's Law"

4/1/2008 Fresno Tuesday morning in Sacramento, Assemblyman Mike Villines of Clovis will discuss Adam's Law; a measure that will result in longer prison sentences for anyone who causes severe and permanent damage to children under eight.

The law is named after Adam Carbajal who was injured three years ago by his mother's boyfriend. Family members said Adam was shaken and thrown against a wall. The injuries left him with permanent brain damage.

If passed, "Adam's Law" would carry a minimum sentence of 15-years to life for anyone who severely injures a child under 8 years old.

Current law already covers those 8 and over.
