Consequences for Company after Farm Worker Death

A valley company is facing severe punishment after the death of a farm laborer. A solemn four-day march of united farm workers ended at the state capitol Wednesday. The white coffins honored Vasquez Jimenez and her unborn child. The pregnant 17-year old died while picking grapes in 100-degree heat last month.

Investigators say her employer, Merced Farm Labor, may have denied Jiminez proper access to shade and water.

The state labor commissioner has started the process to revoke the company's license, in part because the company failed to correct previous worker safety violations.
