John McCain Visits Fresno Today

6/23/2008 Fresno, CA These are live pictures at Fresno State where barricades have been set up for McCain's visit at the university this morning.

The Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting will suggest that the government offer a $300 million dollar prize to the person who can develop a car battery that improves on existing technology. McCain is also expected to propose stiffer fines for automakers that skirt existing fuel-efficiency standards.

Senator McCain's campaign stop will include a fundraising luncheon at the Radisson hotel at 11:30am.

He will be part of a town-hall meeting at Fresno State this morning at 10 o'clock.

You can watch the townhall meeting and Senator McCain's press conference that follows live on ABC30.com starting at 10 o'clock.

Protesters also plan to speak out during McCain's visit. The organization "Peace Fresno" said it will rally outside the senator's appearance at the luncheon downtown. The group said it's concerned about McCain's stance on the war, specifically his plan to keep U.S. Troops in Iraq.
