Valley Starbucks Closures

Starbucks just announced that five Central Valley locations will shut down as part of the nationwide closure of 600 stores.

One of the locations is at Herndon and Marks here in Fresno. This Starbucks does not have a drive thru window. Starbucks announced the closures earlier this month. They said consumers are just not drinking as much coffee as they used to.

Friday morning some of the regulars at the Herndon and Marks Starbucks said they were disappointed that the coffee giant is making cutbacks.

"It's going to be kind of a sad thing because on Saturdays especially there's a lot of fun people that show up here," said Billy Storey of Fresno. "I'm not happy with it, it's close to home and it's on the way to work. Employees are really nice and friendly, it's kind of sad," said Rick White of Fresno.

The other Central Valley Starbucks closing, aside from the Herndon and Marks location is at First and Shields in Fresno. In Visalia, the Starbucks at Mooney in Caldwell is closing down. In Exeter, at Visalia and Belmont and in Atwater, the Starbucks at Bellevue and Winton will close down.

There's no word on when these locations will be shutting down but Starbucks says the closures will happen sometime between this month and the end of 2009.
