Fresno Fire Blamed on Kitchen Stove

August 11, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
Firefighters are blaming food left on a stove for an overnight fire in west central Fresno."We try to remind residents and families to please don't leave cooking appliances on and unattended. It's easy to get distracted and to forget that a stove or other appliance is on," said Fresno Fire Battalion Chief Rich Cabral.

Neighbors called in to report smoke and flames seen inside a house on the corner of Simpson and Sequoia.

Firefighters said food was left cooking on the stove unattended. No one was inside the house.

The fire spread to the attic but firefighters were able to bring it under control quickly.
