Sweet Valley Move-In Deals

Fresno, CA, USA Jennifer Costa is showing off the bedroom she's renting out in her two bedroom Northwest Fresno apartment. Right now, it belongs to her eight-month old son Keegan. Costa posted the room on craigslist. According to the website, roommate postings nationally have increased by 70-percent since January of last year.

Adam Goldfarb manages apartment complexes throughout the Valley. He says the Valley's vacancy rate has gone up by about four percent since last year.

The economy has forced the rental market to become more like the retail market. They're offering people incentives to move in and if you already live in the apartment, they'll give you money to convince your friends to come along.

Some places are even offering free TV's. While experts say incentives are keeping the rental market from drowning … people like Jennifer Costa say it doesn't do much to help keep her afloat.
