Bee Infestation In Valley

Fresno, CA It's swarming bee season and today, honey bees formed a hive just above one of the homes along Broadway Ave in the Tower District.

You can see the beehive here behind me and above me in the tree here.

It took a team of firefighters and beekeepers to get most of them down and it'll be another day before they know if the neighborhood is safe again.

You can see thousands of bees flying around the house here after a firefighter cut down a few branches from the tree.

The hive was so high up, firefighters got a ladder truck to get a beekeeper and a firefighter up there to work on it.

The plan was to move the queen away from the home, and especially the chimney, where swarming bees like to make new hives.

Just yesterday, a swarm of bees stung four people in the San Diego area, but the swarming bees usually aren't dangerous. In fact, when he came down, you could see that the beekeeper wasn't too worried, He went up there in shorts and a t-shirt.

A firefighter also put a big board over the chimney to make sure the bees don't get in the house.

Beekeepers plan to come back out here tomorrow evening, to see if they got the queen bee.

If they did, they can take this hive on the ground here and that's the end of the danger.

But until then, people better be careful here.
