It happened at an apartment complex in Northeast Fresno on Recreation just South of Shaw. A couple of vehicles were seen leaving the nearby apartment complex just after the shooting.
One man in his 20's was hit in the upper body and died.
Shortly after 10 pm Monday night police responded to calls of shots fired at this Northeast Fresno apartment complex. A man in his 20's was found shot and rushed to Community Regional Medical Center where he died some time after.
One block in this area of Northeast Fresno was taped off as investigators questioned witnesses and collected evidence.
Detectives could not say how many shots were fired or where in the upper body the man was hit. "I'm still investigating that. It's unknown how many shots were fired but one did strike the victim," said Lt. Mike Doyle with the Fresno Police Department.
Shortly after the shooting police were looking for a white SUV with tinted windows and fancy chrome rims on the tires.
This is Fresno's 12th homicide in 2009. Last year at this time there were 17 murders.
