Dogs first baseman Ahmady Suspended

May 19, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
Earlier Tuesday the Diamond Dogs flew to Honolulu and the Western Athletic Conference Tournament without one of their best players on board. For the second time this season first baseman Alan Ahmady has been suspended for an undisclosed violation of athletic department policy. A key member from last year's National Championship run, Ahmady will miss the entire WAC Tournament and possibly the NCAA postseason if the Bulldogs qualify. The slugger was batting .328 with eight home runs and 53 RBI.

Ahmady also sat out the first five games of the season for a previous athletic department violation.

Fresno State will take on New Mexico State Thursday at the WAC Tournament in Honolulu without one of its top hitters in the lineup.
