One of them pulled out a rifle and fired several shots, hitting the boy once in the leg.
Police shut down the street this afternoon and searched the ground for bullets that could lead them to the shooter.
Witnesses said the suspect jumped in a dark pickup truck and made his getaway.
Police said it's ironic that the shooting happened just a couple blocks from Saturday's "cash for guns" event that took more than 400 guns of the streets.
