H1N1 Swine Flu Vaccine Shortage

October 19, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
The Centers for Disease Control announced last week it's short on the H1N1 Swine Flu vaccine by about ten million doses. Now it could be a month before it becomes widely available. "It really will be the middle to the end of November. Until then you really focus on other measures," said ABC News Medical Correspondent Dr. Richard Besser.

Those other measures, according Dr. Besser, include staying home if you feel sick, staying away from sick people, and washing your hands.

Doctors say you also may want to talk to your doctor about what to do if you get sick with the flu. Especially if you have an underlying medical condition that makes you more prone to getting sick.
