"GoodSearch" You Search, They Give

Fresno, California The Valley Animal Center in Fresno is home to close to 400 dogs and cats ... It's a no-kill animal shelter ... so, unless they get adopted, these kitties and dogs will be fed and cared for here for the rest of their lives. It's expensive so donations are crucial.

"People really want to help ... Here is the easiest way to give to causes you care about," said Jennifer Ramberg co-founder of GoodSearch.com, an online search engine powered by Yahoo. Every time you use it to do a search, one penny goes to the charity of your choice.

Brittnee Maxfield from the Valley Animal Center: "GoodSearch is a great search engine because it's easy, it's free and there is no cost for our organization to participate and there is no cost to our supporters to search and support us."

There are 85-thousand charities on the site and several valley non-profits have already jumped on board. Brandi Clark of the United Way of Tulare County has convinced friends and family to make GoodSearch their homepage. The organization has made about $100 so far. Not a fortune, but she says-- every little bit helps. "A lot of people are always on the web so this is one of those easy ways that people can give by just searching and not having to write a check"

Its sister website GoodShop.com, helps in a similar way. Every time you shop through their website at Bestbuy, Macys, Target, eBay or any of its 14-hundred partner stores, a percentage of your purchase also goes to the charity you choose.

"It may be a small thing for them to do, but as a non-profit organization it is adding up to donations for our shelter and as non-profit organization, every dollar counts," said Maxfield.
