Florida officials announced late Saturday night they took Paul Merhige into custody.
They found the fugitive in a Long Key, Florida motel room after receiving a tip he might be there.
Merhige turned himself in without a struggle.
Florida law enforcement, with the help of the federal authorities, had been searching for Merhige in a massive manhunt since the Thanksgiving Day massacre of his family.
Officials say Merhige's family can rest knowing he is behind bars.
"There is a weight lifted off our shoulders obviously by making this apprehension, you know. Now I can stand before you and tell you this family is safe. We can give them a little peace and let them get on with their healing process. Which I think is just phenomenal," said Frank Kitzerow, Jupiter Police Chief.
Merhige is accused of killing his twin sisters, aunt and 6-year-old cousin on Thanksgiving Day at a gathering in Jupiter.
