Fresno Pacific, Clovis East Grab Big Wins

Fresno Pacific was at home today looking to avenge a loss a Cal Baptist earlier this season.

Sunbirds up four early when Craig Ash goes to work down low. The nice little turnaround jumper put the Sunbirds up 14-8.

Then it's reigning G-SAC Player of the Year James Lewis using a screen and spotting up for three. A game-high 23 points for Lewis.

And how about the play of point guard Jesse Childs. Running the show for FPU, he creates separation on the drive, and finishes off the fade away jumper. 16 points, five assists and no turnovers for Childs.

FPU wins it easily, 80-39.

Down on the high school level, a showdown at a packed Clovis East gym for the Timberwolves' game tonight against Buchanan.

Bears starting out nicely. Lance Orender meant this to be a pass to Sam Milhous right? Right.

Down on the other end it's Kevin Bailey grabbing the offensive board down low. Then Bailey does well to finish inside.

Buchanan not backing down from the area's top team. Alex Fertig drains the three to give the Bears the lead. Then Jackson Carbajal grabs the steal and finishes at the other end.

Buchanan led it after one quarter, but Clovis East would not be denied tonight.

They take the showdown, 72-63.
