Rachel's Challenge -- "You Just May Start a Chain Reaction"

FRESNO, Calif.

On this rainy Tuesday, Scott was in Northwest Fresno, at Central East High School speaking to students and teachers. This father has been telling her story for a decade and using Rachel's belief that kindness and compassion can change the world. He hopes to encourage others to action. "How many parents that lose a child have the opportunity to let that child's story impact the whole world?"

To date, he says, millions of people around the world have heard the story, "There is a part of it that's sorrow but there is a huge part that's joy. And we see that everyday."

The students listening in a darkened auditorium on this day were moved by the story. One told us, "I wasn't really familiar with the Columbine incident." Senior Ashlie Day may not have known about the columbine shootings before this day but its first victim has captured her heart and moved the Central High student to action, "I want to be a part of Rachel's Challenge. I think it's amazing. It's extremely inspirational and i want to be a part of that. I want to make my difference in the world."

She and other students signed up to take on "Rachel's Challenge: to create a chain reaction of kindness and compassion.

And that is music to the ears of this devoted father carrying on his daughter's quest to change the world. For more, check out the Rachel's Challenge website.
