Fresno Students Join in State Education March

FRESNO, Calif. The marchers are demanding that the governor and legislature fully fund California's public colleges and universities.

The three buses left from this parking lot early Monday morning. They were packed full of students and staff from Fresno City College.

In fact organizers say there was so much interest in Monday's "March in March" they had to turn people away because there just wasn't going to be enough room on the buses.

Over 150 Fresno City College students and staff boarded buses at 5 a.m. Monday morning. They're headed to Sacramento to meet up with marchers from across the state at Raley field at 9 o'clock. From there they'll march up Capitol Mall and end up at a huge rally at 11 a.m. on the steps of the State Capitol.

They're protesting the $520-million dollars in cuts to California's community college system. They say education is suffering and they're already seeing the effects.

It's not just students involved in the march, the Chancellor of California Community Colleges Jack Scott will join the students at the rally. The hope is, state legislators will be listening.
