The shooting happened just after 1:30 a.m. Monday morning at the Golden Meadows Apartments on California Avenue near Vineland.
The Sheriff's department reports a man was shot in the head outside an apartment.
The Kerman Police Department first responded to the scene, but they soon handed over the investigation to the Sheriff's department.
An ambulance drove the man to a nearby helicopter. The helicopter flew the man to Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno where he later died.
