Police say it appears he just moved on to a different store that day.
Investigators say this is 37-year-old Israel Camacho, bringing a box, containing a pair of sneakers, to a Payless clerk last week.
When she takes out one sneaker, police say she sees a gun inside the box. That's when the man demands money, and she hands over the cash.
Police say just hours before the man had tried to rob a cell phone store but the store clerk talked him out of it by quoting bible passages.
Detectives say that Camacho did say "God bless you" before he left and left the sneakers on the counter.
