Obama pardons two Central Valley turkeys

WASHINGTON

President Obama spared the birds in a ceremony Wednesday morning in the White House Rose Garden. It featured 2 birds named Apple and Cider.

The turkeys were raised in the north valley by growers at Livingston based Foster Farms. Once the turkeys are pardoned today, they will live out their lives at Mount Vernon.

The full tradition of the presidential turkey pardon began with President George H.W. Bush in 1989.
