With just three days left to vote, local Facebook users are pushing their friends to get online and "like Fresno."

Wal-Mart's fighting hunger campaign kicked off last month. The retail giant says it's committed to helping families with food hardship.

Wal-Mart's Corporate Affairs Director Tiffany Moffatt said, "So this holiday season we're giving Americans the opportunity to select cities that they want to receive more than $1.5 million in funds to help fight hunger."

Participants can choose between 100 cities where hunger rates are the highest. In Fresno, almost one fourth of families cannot afford regular meals.

Fresno's Community Food Bank Executive Director Andy Souza says Fresno is only meeting about half the needs of the community when it comes to groceries. But we could do more, if we had the money.

"What's good for us is that we're already working with many of those organizations so collectively we can really leverage that million dollars," said Souza. "For us, for every dollar that is donated we can turn into 8 dollars worth of food. If we can stretch that million dollars throughout the valley we can make a big dent."

Right now, Fresno is number one by several thousand votes. To vote, go to the Wal-Mart fighting hunger Facebook page, find Fresno, and click 'like'

In order for your vote to count, you must go to the Wal-Mart fighting hunger page. You can't just go to a friend's Facebook page and hit "like."

If you don't have a Facebook page, it's easy to sign up. Go to facebook.com and follow the instructions for sign up. Then search for the Wal-Mart fighting hunger page.

You have until December 31st to cast your vote, and you can vote or hit "like" twice.

The winning city receives one million dollars at the beginning of January. The second, third and fourth place winners will receive 100-hundred thousand dollars each.
