$3 million in gold stolen from courthouse

YREKA, Calif.

Thieves got off with $3 million in gold stolen from the courthouse in Yreka. Police say two men broke into a display case around 1 a.m. Wednesday. The theft was discovered just after 7:00.

Some of the historic nuggets were found near Yreka nearly 100 years ago. The collection was also shown at the World's Fair in San Francisco in 1939.
