Police discover Central Fresno chop shop

FRESNO, Calif.

Officers say they were conducting surveillance at a home on Madison and 8th when they saw two men and one woman stripping a vehicle in the backyard. Police believe the suspects are career criminals.

"The vehicle was up on blocks. They had taken several component parts which we know they were going to sell for profits. Again this is what we find we know these crews are gonna steal vehicles on a daily basis then strip them and sell the parts out," Sgt. Tim Tietjen of the Fresno Police Department said.

Police identified the suspects as 27-year-old Santos Vega, 42-year-old Mike Ruiz and 44-year-old Berta Gonzalez. Police say they belong to two different area gangs.
